M. Paula Ashen, Esq.
M. Paula Ashen Esq. was born and raised in the greater Denver Colorado metropolitan area.
She attended Cherry Creek High School and received her undergraduate degree from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
She attended law school at St. Louis University School of Law where her father received his law degree.
Paula has represented clients in domestic relations/family law and plaintiff personal injury cases for over 40 years in the Denver Metro area. Currently, Paula is the managing partner at Ashen & Bush Family Law.
In her years of practice Paula has represented clients in a variety of cases: dissolution of marriage, legal separation, divorce cases involving complex financial issues as well as business and property valuation and well as complex custody cases. At this time, Paula works exclusively in family law. Paula utilizes, where appropriate, experts in tax and financial planning, valuation of real and personal property as well as child custody experts. Paula has also represented clients in interstate child custody and grandparent rights cases over the past several years.
In January of 2018, Paula became a Child and Family Investigator (CFI) and has been appointed in Denver and Adams county to investigate the best interest of the minor children. She is also an approved CFI in Jefferson County. She specializes in high conflict divorce and allocation of parental responsibilities cases where there are allegations of abuse and neglect of the minor child(ren). Paula has also worked on cases as a CFI with non-verbal autistic children and children with varying special education service needs, such as IEP programs. Paula’s only focus is the best interest of the minor children. Before the codification of the CFI, Paula worked for years as a Special Advocate, the precursor to the CFI.
Paula also serves and is available as a family law Mediator, Special Master, Arbitrator, and GAL. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association as well as the Arapahoe County Bar Association and the Catholic Lawyers Guild.
Paula believes in giving back to her community whenever she can. She regularly serves as a judge for appellate trial competitions at the high school level, at University of Denver School of Law and the Colorado University School of Law. Paula also volunteers for the Rocky Mountain Children Law Center as a Guardian Ad Litem in Denver County Court protection order cases involving children.
